Graphite Gaskets & Seals
Any graphite gasket manufactured by Hennig Gasket & Seals is guaranteed by our promise of delivering high performance graphite gaskets and seals on-budget and on-time with unbeatable customer service. We have built a 100+ year reputation across the country and across a wide range of industries of being the graphite gasket manufacturer who really delivers what we promise. Our engineering department will work with your provided drawings or will reverse engineer your sample part to your exact specifications and tolerance requirements.
Our in-house manufacturing capabilities for graphite gaskets and seals include state-of-the-art waterjet cutting services which produce graphite seals as small as 1/4” diameter up to 48” diameter; we achieve exceptionally smooth edges and minimal material waste with our advanced flash cutting equipment.
Graphite Gasket & Seal Applications
Graphite is known to excel in extreme conditions, withstanding heat, pressure and aggresive chemicals. It is especially noted for dimensional stability in high temperatures and pressure fluctuations. Because of these features, graphite gaskets and seals are often called to use in:
- Refineries
- Chemical and Petrochemical Plants
- Paper Mills
- Industrial Fluid Sealing
- Vibration Dampening
- Steam Services
- Cryogenic Applications
- Thermal, Electronic and Electrochemical Applications
Graphite Gasket Sheet Material
Hennig Gasket & Seals is a stocking distributor of a wide variety of graphite sheets and flexible homogenous graphite rolls. Industrial grade graphite contains between 95% and 99% carbon. Nuclear grade graphite is 99.5% pure. The higher percentage rate of carbon will give more flexibility to the graphite. With flexibility, however, comes brittleness. As a reinforcement, graphite can be inserted with various metal cores (fillers) to aide in strength, stability and ease of handling. We provide homogeneous graphite in sheets or rolls, stainless steel tang graphite sheets, stainless steel foil graphite sheets, wire mesh graphite sheets, tinplated carbon steel tang graphite sheets. For extremely high temperature applications, woven & compressed foil graphite sheets might be a better option.

Graphite Gasket Material Inserts
Homogeneous rolls or sheets are free of any fibers, binders or additives. This makes it extremely conformable to any flange surface imperfections in a relatively low pressure sealing condition. Is is often used for metal jacketed gaskets, heat exchanger gaskets and corrugated metal gaskets. Carbon content of this graphite material is 98.2%
Stainless Steel Tang inserted graphite is reinforced with 316SS. It is an ideal material for most industrial fluid sealing applications.
Stainless Steel Foil inserted graphite has same properties and application uses as Tang reinforcement. This is the most commonly requested graphite gasket material which contains .002" stainless steel foil.
Wire Mesh inserted graphite has a carbon content of 98%.
Tinplated Carbon Steel Tang inserted graphite is recommended for automotive and other combusion engine applications, or similar sealing conditions. It is typically used for head gasket and exhaust gasket.
Hochdruck® graphite is a registered trademark of Garlock Industries. This is a high performance multi-layer graphite with 316SS foil inserts providing high compressive strength, blow-out resistance, excellent handling properties and improved tightness. Carbon content of this graphite material is 99.85%.
Hennig Gasket & Seals works with many of the top names in graphite gasketing material including Grafoil®, Thermoseal® (Klinger), Garlock Industries, Frenzelit Novatec and many more.
